Loneliness & Mental Health Networks
Loneliness, social isolation and mental health are real issues for lots of people. And friendship, conversation and safe places where we can just be ourselves, are important for all of us.
In recent years society has become much more aware of mental health and wellbeing but there is still a stigma around these issues. Together Leicester is working to tackle misconceptions and provide a practical response.
In partnership with local services, charities and groups we are building a network of community hubs, Places of Welcome, social eating spaces, lunch clubs and other activities to tackle loneliness in our communities across the diocese – from the city to our rural villages.
Being part of our network gives groups the opportunity to learn from each other and share ideas and good practice. We also work with Renew Wellbeing, a Christian mental health charity, to encourage churches to develop safe places in their local communities where “it’s OK not to be OK”.
