Church-based social action

Join us to celebrate communities serving and caring for each other across Leicestershire through churches and others working together, across our different and diverse contexts. An event to encourage, inspire and equip you to share Christ's love to your community in a variety of ways.

Paul Hackwood, Executive Director of CUF (Church Urban Fund), & +Guli Francis-Deqhani, Bishop of Loughborough will be helping us to reflect on why we do what we do and to give thanks to God for all that Christ has done in our communities.

There will be 2 groups of 3 workshops:

Stories of Impact 1: City – Baby Basics, Leicester; Rural Village – Community Breakfast, Ashby Magna; Estates – St Chad’s Place of Welcome and partnership working

Stories of Impact 2: Post-industrial Community – Oasis Community Café, Hugglescote Community Church; Market Town – The Light Station, Castle Donington; Suburb/Urban Edge – Oadby Youth Project

Community Mapping/Listening – Tools to identify the strengths, gifts & assets in your local community & ways in which you can more effectively listen to the thoughts, needs, passions and concerns of the people who are part of the community. (repeated)

Fundraising FAQs – information about how to apply for grants to support your work, and how to avoid the common pitfalls. (repeated)

A toilet with a hoist and adult changing bed are available in the David Wilson Centre, part of St Martins House, and will be available for this event.

We are arranging sign language interpretation for this event. If you will need this support, or you have other additional needs, please email sian.rigby@togetherleicester.org.uk so we can make sure all appropriate support is in place.
